Mining licensing changes lead Ghana’s legal watch

Minister announces district-level mining licensing

The Lands Minister says District Mining Committees will issue mining licences under what the report describes as a new Mining and Minerals Act, with applications beginning in the district of operation. He also says mining companies will enter Community Development Agreements with host communities. A convocation of jurists in the service of law, honour and country.

The Chamber is not a regulator, nor a bar association. It is a non-partisan learned society, private, selective, and devoted to scholarship, mentorship and civic contribution. Membership is by invitation, on the basis of achievement, character and service.

A voluntary learned society, distinct from the General Legal Council and the Ghana Bar Association.

Independent of political affiliation, guided solely by the discipline of law and public interest.

§ 03, Governance

A Founding Council of jurists and stewards.

The Chamber is governed by a Founding Council that convenes the first cohort of Fellows, adopts the Institutional Framework and stewards the Chamber toward full incorporation as a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Act, 2019.
