§ Practice Workshops

Sessions in which you draft, analyse or argue, and are told how it read.

Each month the Chamber convenes a practical session built around real work: a fictional transaction, a contested motion, a set of clauses. Participants produce something, and experienced practitioners give feedback on it.

Land Transaction Workshop

Work a fictional land purchase from instruction to registration using the Chamber due diligence checklist.

Participants receive a fictional instruction and a bundle of searches, plans and correspondence. Working in small groups, they complete the Chamber due diligence checklist, identify the defects planted in the bundle, draft the reporting letter to the purchaser, and mark up a deed of assignment. Facilitators review each group's work and give written feedback the following week.

Advocacy Clinic, Interlocutory Applications

Make submissions on a motion before experienced practitioners and receive immediate feedback.

Each participant is assigned a side on a short interlocutory motion, files written submissions in advance, and argues the application before a panel of senior practitioners. The panel intervenes as a bench would, then gives structured feedback on issue framing, authority handling, and answering the court.

Contract Drafting Clinic

Draft and redraft commercial clauses, then defend your choices in review.

Participants draft a set of commercial clauses against a short instruction, exchange drafts for peer review, and then sit through a line by line review with the facilitator on precision, risk allocation and enforceability.
